Inventions in the 1970’s.
Email was one of the first inventions of the 1970 decade. The Email was invented by Ray Tomlinson in 1971. Another invention which would continue to be developed through several more decades was the walkman.
The walkman was first released in Japan in 1979 and was available in the UK shortly after. In 1975, Steve Sasson built the first digital camera while working for Eastman Kodak. Obviously there were improvements needed, as the camera he built weighed 8 lbs.
Inline skates were developed in the late 1970’s and were very successful. A company called Rollerblade inc developed the Inline Skates. Now days, the name is synonymous with inline skates. In 1979, cellular phones were invented by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone of Japan.
By the mid 1980’s, cell phones were being purchased by business and individuals.
In 1979, the cell phone was invented. Above, the modern iPhone can be seen.
During the 1971, the 8 inch floppy disk was introduced by IBM. Floppy disks would continue to be used until the 21st century until USB drives became more useful.
